Gilbert To Seek County Council Seat
Northampton Co., PA, May 15, 2009

Bruce Gilbert, vice president and senior financial specialist at the Stones Crossing branch of Wachovia Bank, will seek the Republican nomination for Northampton County Council.

Gilbert, a 47-year-old Easton native and father of five, believes his expertise in business and education make him an ideal candidate to safeguard taxpayer’s money while helping the county move forward.

“I would like to see Northampton County move ahead and not be caught up in the web of politics,” said Gilbert, who teaches business management and financial services at Muhlenberg College in Allentown and accounting at Northampton Community College.  ”My priority is the county’s well being.”

Former captain of the Easton Red Rover’s Football team who led his team to an undefeated season in 1978, Gilbert now coaches youth football, volleyball, and lacrosse. He said he knows how to build a consensus and enlist cooperation from all players, be it youth football or politics.

“I want to work to forge an approach of collaboration, one that advances county interests over personal agendas,” he said.

Gilbert is co-chair of the Northeastern PA Wachovia Bank diversity council and sits on the YMCA Easton-Phillipsburg board. Gilbert also is Director of Kids for America and Co-Director of Dream Kids, performance groups benefiting soldier’s families and terminally ill children. He is one of six Republicans seeking five seats.
